8th Sino Forum in Hanoi 2011

Hanoi, June - From 7. to 8. June 2011, Hanoi played host to the 8th Sino-Vietnamese Economic Reform Forum and Economic Policy Dialogue among Asian Transition Countries.. Jointly organised by the China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD), the Central Institute for Economic Management of Vietnam (CIEM) and German International Cooperation (GIZ), which implements on behalf of the German Federal Minstry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The two-day Conference presented an opportunity for government representatives, policy makers and researchers, international policy experts, officials and other interested parties to engage in dialogue in the area of economic and social policy, its reform and transformation. This year, the annual Conference included a broad range of speakers and participants, including government representatives, policy experts and researchers from the organising bodies CIRD, CIEM and GIZ, as well as senior policy makers and researchers from China, Kyrkistan and Uzbekistan. Senior policy researchers and officials from relevant government departments and national policy research institutions will also be participating.  Discussions at the Conference focused on the following four major topics: “Towards Equitable and Sustainable  Development - Economic and Social Transformation in Asian Emerging Market Economies”.The International Forum on Economic Transition is founded on the Agreement of the Establishment of a Sino-Vietnamese Economic Reform Forum signed by CIRD and CIEM in January 2004. The Forum is based on the recognition of the similarity in both background and approach to China's and Vietnam’s economic reform processes, as well as acknowledging their corresponding problems and difficulties. Its aim is that through dialogue and exchanging experiences, the speed of the respective reform processes is accelerated and their sustainability ensured. 

 
The Ministry of Finance acknowledges German expert’s contribution to Vietnam’s Financial development

On 9/12/2010, The Ministry of Finance (MoF) organized the medal granting ceremony “For Vietnam’s financial development cause” to the CTA of the Macroeconomic reform program, Mrs. Dr. Ulrike Maenner for her great contribution and support to Vietnam financial development cause. On behalf of the MoF, the Standing Vice Minister, Mr. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Nghiep, granted Mrs. Dr. Maenner the noble reward.

 Welcome to the Website of the MPI-GTZ Macroeconomic Reform  Program

The Macroeconomic Reform Program of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) started in December 2005. It aims at strengthening the market economy institutions of Vietnam. The Program's focus is on the legal framework and its implementation in areas key for developing a market economy: enterprise and investment law, law on planning, state budget law, and a number of laws and regulations governing the financial sector and capital markets.
